When you plan for a winter wedding, especially one that is Christmas themed, you cross all crossables for snow on your day. When it warmed up slightly just prior to Heather and Guillaume’s wedding, I was thinking it might be another green Christmas year. But in an amazing Christmas miracle, as Heather put it, we had not only snow on the ground but soft falling snow all day.
I arrived at the stunning Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara on the Lake, beautifully decorated for the holiday season. Heather was having her finishing touches put on by HONOR Beauty’s Paje herself as her family bustled around her. Her sister and Maid of Honour along with her children helped Heather step into her wedding gown and place on her veil.
In the Hampton Court room, Guillaume greeted family while the harpist played. The emotion was beautiful to witness as Heather walked with her dad towards her husband. The simple and sweet ceremony in front of their 16 guests was perfect.
The three of us made our way outside to the gorgeous snowfall for their portraits. The landscape and colder day was the perfect excuse for cuddles.
Eventually, we head inside to their reception room, the Three Feathers room, which looked amazing by the staff at Vintage Hotels and Clippings at Miller House.
Prior to dinner, Heather and Guillaume shared their first dance. This created some of my favourite candid moments from a wedding. Their niece and nephew sat playing a game on their phone, sweetly unaware of the moment happening in front of them.
I loved the overall casual intimacy that their dinner had; the easy conversation and laughter, the sharing of moments and toasts, some tears. It was such a wonderful evening spent with an amazing couple and their wonderful families! Thank you so much for allowing me into your lives to document this part of your journey together.
