When I first chatted with Laura and Steven via Skype, they said hello and I immediately asked where they were from — “Glasgow, Scotland!”. Their accents weren’t the only endearing quality between them. Their easy-going natures and obvious love for one another was lovely. This sweet couple found their way to Canada just a few years ago and had finally decided that the time was right for an intimate wedding (and they chose his birthday to wed!). They chose a Niagara Parks wedding to host just a handful of guests for a ceremony before heading back to Toronto for a small dinner reception.
The day boasted big beautiful blue skies and one of the hottest temperatures so far this year at the botanical gardens. On the pathway close to the hedge gardens, Steven awaited his lovely bride for a First Look. When I asked him after what he thought when he first saw her, he replied “the same thing I think every time I see her, she’s beautiful”.
The ceremony included a ring warming – each of the guests was invited to hold the rings and send their warmest wishes into them for the couple. A gesture that was incredibly sweet to witness. They said I Do, then a kiss to the applause of their guests. Even Laura’s father and grandmother had made the journey from Scotland to witness the wedding.
We finished with their portraits near the giant willow tree – the beautiful landmark that had drawn them to marry at the parks. Wishing you both adventures and love xo
