There is so much about this couple and this day that I loved. Kaitlyn and Chris are a loving, down-to-earth, hilarious couple with an incredible connection. By the time their wedding day came, I felt like an old friend documenting their day.
It was an early December day with deep blue skies when we arrived at Chris’ parent’s home. Chris and his groomsmen chatted as they put on their suits and opened their gifts (how cool are those watches? I even bought one for my own fiance after!). Outside, Chris brought out a bottle of rum for a shot with his guys, it was strong enough to get a few laughs and winces.
We drove across town to where Kaitlyn was getting ready at their own home. As she was receiving the finishing touches to her makeup, her dad arrived to see his baby girl on her wedding day, causing a wave of tears from nearly everyone. She put on a record and stepped into her wedding gown. After a few hilarious adjustments (why can’t they make skin toned duct tape?!), Kaitlyn waited anxiously for Chris to arrive. We had felt that their first home together was the perfect location for their First Look. As he stood on their porch, she came up behind him, touched his hand. As he turned to see his beautiful bride, tears filled his eyes to a chorus of AWWW’s from inside the house (peeking bridesmaids!).
After a few portraits together at the local conservation area, we made a quick stop at Oast House for vineyard photos, a pint, and some ping pong.
The Niagara on the Lake Old Courthouse (the Shaw Festival Theatre) looked stunning decorated for the happy couple. Their loved ones looked on as they said their vows and officially became husband and wife. We snuck outside for a couple more photos using some fun lighting and lucked out to find a Tesla waiting at the curb. We couldn’t resist a photo!
The speeches were full of happy tears, love, and laughter as their loved ones toasted to them. A fun slideshow by Chris’ parents was a happy surprise to them. Chris shared his dance with his mom with her two sisters, bringing a smile to all of the guests.
It was truly a perfect day and I am honoured to have been a part of it!
