An amazing part of weddings is how couples and their loved ones celebrate. This celebration never quite looks the same wedding to wedding and having an opportunity to document a Hindu ceremony was something I’ve longed to do. The beautiful colours and how love is celebrated with so much tradition and meaning can be deeply emotional.
I joined Lauren the night before her wedding to Kashyap at her mehendi party. This gorgeous henna is applied freehand by the artist with symbolism for the couple. With much laughter filling the house, the couple was surrounded by love.
The next day, Lauren and her dear friends (all honorary bridesmaids) gathered in her family home. Her dad couldn’t hold back his emotions upon seeing his wife and then daughter dressed for the celebration ahead. These moments tend to be a favourite as a photojournalist (and emotional romantic) and that particular moment did not disappoint.
Kash waited outside the AirBnB for their first First Look and embraced his bride upon seeing her. A few quick portraits before we all head to Legends on the Niagara for their Hindu ceremony.
This gorgeous ceremony included beautiful traditions and modern vows, exchanging of flowers (and rings), and much love. The seven steps and the blessings had many crying the happiest of tears.
After a few more portraits of the happy couple, it was outfit change time. They changed quickly into western wedding attire before doing a second First Look. Then it was into the reception! Sweet dances, funny and heartfelt speeches, then a gorgeous twilight to cap the night.
It was truly an honour to celebrate with you both and all of your loved ones. Much love!!
