Mother Nature was so kind to me through the wedding season, but just wouldn’t allow me one last day of sunshine. The morning of Eryn and Chris’ Buffalo Canoe Club wedding was drizzly rain and cloudy skies. But the laughter coming from Eryn’s parent’s home was enough to brighten the day. Eryn stepped into her wedding dress and emerged to a chorus of ‘oooh!!”s and some tears from her bridesmaids before a First Look with her dad. The all climbed aboard the Buffalo Bills bus and we took a short drive to Eryn’s grandparent’s home for a couple portraits in their yard.
When we arrived at the Buffalo Canoe Club, Chris was practicing his dance with his mom while the groomsmen were in their various stages of being ready for the day. Emotional moments, happy tears, and plenty of laughter, it wasn’t long before it was time to wait at the end of the aisle for his bride. And while the weather didn’t allow for them to have the ceremony they had dreamed of, they rolled with Mother Nature’s punches and didn’t let it dampen their day.
Their short and sweet ceremony was exactly what you’d expect when two best friends get married. So much love and joy filled the room for this sweet couple and a happy cheers when they were finally wed!
A couple rainy portraits at the boathouse before heading back inside to enjoy cocktails with their guests. Then began an epic reception.
Upon the announcing in, the bridesmaids handed the groomsmen their own little gifts – they were ICED. And if you aren’t familiar with this ‘tradition’, it’s when someone surprises you with a Smirnoff Ice where you must then get to one knee and CHUG the whole drink. A sweet first dance opened the festivities with heartfelt (and some hilarious) speeches. Then it was the parent dances. Eryn surprised everyone (especially her mom) when she asked her grandfather for a special dance after dancing with her dad. Tears flowed around the room as she shared this moment with a man she adored, her grandmother looking on with love and pride, singing the words to the song.
Eryn and Chris stood at the podium, thanking all of their family and friends for being a part of their day, when suddenly the power went out. But this was NOT going to stop an amazing party. A speaker was brought in and candles were lit.
What an incredible, whirlwind way to end the wedding season! Congrats again you two!!
