Being assigned to the same group for a first year class at Brock University introduced them. And while they may not connected right away, they both definitely took notice of the other. A few years passed and Mitchell’s family’s move put him in the same area as Melissa. He reached out to her hoping she’d show him around the city and that began their adventure in life together.
When I asked how he had proposed, this is what they wrote to me:
Melissa was visiting Mitchell. He told her that something was wrong with a necklace he recently got her. He disappeared to his room and came back with the box the necklace came in. Mitchell slowly opened the box to reveal a beautiful ring – he proposed!
Melissa was speechless. She was in shock and kicked Mitchell out of the room to FaceTime her mom. After getting carried away talking to her mom for longer than necessary, Melissa gave the ring back to Mitchell and excused herself to the washroom. Mitchell could not believe what was happening – he thought she was saying no!
When Melissa returned, she apologized for making him wait and said ‘ok, ask me again’. Mitchell went through his proposal again and this time, much to his relief, she said yes!
So while it may not have gone exactly how he had planned, in the end they were engaged and had a really funny story to share for a lifetime :)
We began their session where their story began – at Brock University. As the sun set further, we made a quick stop at Morningstar Mill. I’m so thankful to have met this wonderful, down-to-earth couple and be a part of their adventures!
